Terms and conditions
These terms apply to every card issued under the Club Card scheme.
1. The concession
The Gibraltar Bus Company Limited operates the Club Card scheme in association with the Gibraltar Government. A Card entitles the named holder to free bus travel on all Gibraltar Bus Company routes (1, 2, 6, 7, 9 and night services N1, N8E, N8S). Not valid on Citibus services (5, 10, X5).
2. Discretion
The Gibraltar Bus Company Limited reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, whether or not to issue a Card to an applicant. Issue of a Card is personal to the holder and confers no rights other than travel on buses of The Gibraltar Bus Company Limited as stated above.
3. The Card remains GBC's property
A Card remains the property of The Gibraltar Bus Company Limited. The Gibraltar Bus Company Limited may withdraw a Card, and the travel concession arising under it, at any time and without notice. A withdrawn Card stops working immediately.
4. Not transferable
A Card is personal to the named holder and may not be transferred, lent or sold. A Card presented by anyone other than the holder may be withdrawn.
5. Who can apply
- Cross-Frontier Workers Card — Registered with the Employment Services as being employed in Gibraltar.
- Club Card (Adult) — Adults aged 18 and over who hold a Gibraltar Identity Card.
- Club Card (Junior) — Anyone aged 5 to 18 who holds a Gibraltar Identity Card.
- Club Card (University) — Students aged 18 and over enrolled on a course at the University of Gibraltar.
Every application must be supported by evidence of eligibility.
6. Fees
- Cross-Frontier Workers Card — £35.00
- Club Card (Adult) — free
- Club Card (Junior) — free
- Club Card (University) — £35.00
No payment is taken when you apply. If an application is approved, a payment link is emailed to the applicant and is valid for 48 hours. If it is not used within that time the approval lapses and a fresh application is needed. Fees are non-refundable once a Card has been issued.
7. How long a Card lasts
A Card runs for 12 months from the date it is issued. A Club Card (Junior) additionally ends on the holder's 18th birthday if that falls sooner, because the scheme covers ages 5 to 18 only.
8. Renewal
Holders are reminded by email before a Card expires. Renewing a Cross-Frontier Workers Card or Club Card (University) requires current evidence of eligibility and payment of the fee again. Renewing a Club Card (Junior) is free but still requires current evidence of eligibility.
9. Using the Card
Show the QR code to the driver when boarding, from the card page, the email, or your phone's wallet. The driver checks it against GBC's records at the time of travel; a Card that has expired or been withdrawn will not be accepted and the normal fare applies.
10. Proving the Card is yours
A Card is personal to the named holder. The driver may ask the person presenting a Card to produce photographic identification to confirm that they are the cardholder, and may refuse the concession, and normal fares apply, if identification is not produced or does not match the Card.
When a Card is scanned, the photograph supplied with the application is shown to the driver so that they can see whether the Card belongs to the person presenting it. Carry photographic identification when you travel.
11. Information given in an application
Applicants confirm that the information given is correct. The Gibraltar Bus Company Limited may seek information relevant to an application, in its absolute discretion, from other entities such as the Police, employers and other authorities. A Card obtained on false information may be withdrawn.
12. Data protection
The Gibraltar Bus Company Limited is the data controller. See the privacy notice.
